Spirit of Learning Conference 1-2 May 2010, Hilton Hotel

Join Keynote presenter Dr Christine Richmond and workshops on literacy, numeracy, differentiation, digital pedagogy and science to complement your induction. For more details see the draft program is now available below!

With the support of the Queensland Teacher's Credit Union, the conference provides delegates with relevant and timely professional development to complement school induction programs. 

Saturday 1 May 8am - 8.30am Registration, Dr Christine Richmond - Keynote speaker, three workshops and networking.

Sunday 2 May 8.30am Conference breakfast (delegates only), Keynote speaker, Ideas Expo including Classrooms in the Spotlight.

Early Bird Registration: $374 (incl GST) closes Tuesday 13 April 2010

Registration after 14 April 2010 $483 

Registration fees include:

  • Accommodation - twin-share for Saturday 1 May (Single accommodation is available at an additional cost to the delegate)
  • Keynote address on Saturday & Sunday
  • Three workshops and networking on Saturday
  • Ideas Expo including Classrooms in the Spotlight on Sunday
  • BETA three year membership
  • Conference satchel and handbook
  • Morning and afternoon tea, lunch on Saturday
  • Conference breakfast on Sunday

Please note parking at the venue is not included in registration fees. It is the delegates responsibility to organise their own travel and parking arrangements to the conference.

Is there are a cheaper registration fee for pre-service or part-time teachers?

Reduced registration fees are not available - even if people do not stay at the Hilton. The registration fees do not cover the cost of conference inclusions.

BETA has kept the registration fee equivalent to 1 TRS day to make this affordable for schools through sponsorship from the Queensland Teachers' Credit Union, Education Queensland and Queensland Teachers' Union.


What meals are included?

Saturday
Delegates will receive morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
Delegates are responsible for their own dinner on Saturday night.

Sunday
Delegates will receive breakfast in the Hilton Ballroom during the Keynote presentation.




What parking is available?

The Hilton charges guests $36.00 per day. If delegates choose to park at the Hilton this cost will be charged on check-out.

BETA recommends delegates use public transport where possible.

Kings car park above the Wintergarden is the closest alternate parking facility.



Can I upgrade my accommodation so my partner can attend?
FAQ Toc
Yes - you can upgrade your accommodation for your partner to attend. An additional $120 will be invoiced to the delegate following the conference. This fee only covers the accommodation and is not inclusive of any catering.

Your partner will need to organise their own meals, including breakfast on Sunday, as the registration cost only covers the meals of the delegate.


Is anything on sale at the conference?

BETA will be selling polo-shirts for $45. Limited sizes are available.

Education Suppliers will also be attending the conference and will have products for sale on Saturday and Sunday.


Is the registration cost different without accommodation?

No - the registration fee is still the same.
The conference aims to facilitate networking throughout the program with Saturday concluding with refreshments sponsored by Queensland Teachers' Union.
